With the primary clutch repaired and all other systems a "go" I took this project for it's inaugural ride. The 600 rides and handles like no other HUS-SKI. I even banged my knees once going through a very slight hollow. The handlebars are not bent upwards on the 600 and this makes a big difference in "knee" clearance. The engine would run great for about 5 minutes then want to stall. Although it never stalled,it did require a minute or two to prep itself for the next 5 minutes. I am putting this down to the very warm day I was riding it and hopefully next winter on a cold day this will not happen. The hood on this machine is original and has not been upgraded with the addition of the top side vent.

There is nothing more beautiful than a newly rebuilt set of HUS-SKI tracks. The set on the right is for my 600 double track while the other set is rebuilt to put my 400 in top shape again. It was throwing too many cleats last winter due to the cleats being worn through to less than half their thickness. I always advocate riveting the cleats and ice cleats due to original appearance and ease of fastening. Riveting by hand would not be too tempting but I use a riveting end on an air hammer. It take about 15 seconds to rivet the four or five rivets on either of these tracks. To assemble the 600 tracks I insert all the rivets ( and washers) first then push on one wood cleat and its respective ice cleat. Rivet it together and procede until all are done. This process takes just over one hour per track.

My progress on this 600 double track has been very slow but here is another installment in its progress. The secondary on the 600's is identical in appearance to those of the 200-A but when taken apart you find a plastic sleeve which fits tightly over the post of the fixed sheeve. I see this as a design improvement to reduce wear. This sleeve appears to simply be a piece of ABS plastic water pipe turned to the correct OD. These plastic sleeved secondaries can be found on 200-A's of the same year. Since the jackshaft housing is the same as other HUS-SKIs (excluding the wonderful 600 single track) and the bracket for the housing is the same width as the single track (wider) there is an aluminum spacer and several thick washers required to make up the difference.

Finally after so many years of having done the restoration of this single track, I installed the chrome bumper. I made the bumper then sent it for chroming.the double track machine beside it has the black bumper.

Here i go again on a 600. This one was painted and asembled several years ago. The engine was never installed.

Now that the cat is out of the bag..yss my plan was to put a jlo 292 in this machine however i dont have the time to convert the 292 i have into a right hand rotation. Instead i plan to install the carbs shown in the photo.

Although these carbs were made for the 252 JLO they were for another machine. This means that the throttle linkage and choke linkage is all backwards for a HUSSKI. The "y" for the carb has the impulse hole on the bottom carb. Flipping the carbs was okey because both carbs had an impulse carb. The main carb is on the bottom now. Via a tube to the slave carb, the vacuum will be transferred.
