Hi all,

It's in the 70's in Wisconsin. Wow that seems like forever since we had warm weather.

Today I tore apart a 500 gearbox and learned lots of things. The gearcase is meant to take oil. The gearbox is different than the 502/3's but the bearings and seals are all the same. The input shafts are different and the gear ratios are different. I put more details on the web site.

Also found the difference between the drive sprockets between the 500 & 502/3. Again, it's on the web site now for everyone to know.

We have a new member - duanebh (Duane B) from Canby, Minnesota. Hi Duane and thanks for joining us.

The model 500 has raised lots of discussion in the last month. I never knew how many differences there were between that and the 502/3. There is at least a dozen different things if not more. What makes the 500 so cool is that there are so few of them around. They were not built has hardy and I suppose they hit the scrap pile sooner than the later models. I think a good fixed up 500 is a real find.

Well at least you have snow. Here in Kapuskasing all the snow is gone. We still have some in the bush but I won't try to go in there. Will wait till next winter safer this way.

We've given up on any more riding. Just 10 days ago up north the snow was 2' - 3 ' feet deep and so dense and wet you could not even drive a sled down a fresh path. Now it's melting so fast we will be lucky if the road did not wash out.

Rock, Regarding the repairs, we could work something out. Just need to decide how extensive you want me to get into it and can we afford the gas it will cost for transportation.

Ron, Regarding lens, I have some whole assemblies and also just the lenses. But I have to tell you up front that they are worth their weight in gold. Email me at bschoblaska@new.rr.com if you want to discuss further.
