Sounds of the season.

Finally finished maintenance repairs to-day. Tightened up the front sprockets to axle , resealed the chaincase, replaced the front bogie assemblies with better ones, replaced all bogie rubber bushings, installed new gas lines etc. Fired her up and ran the front lawn for half an hour to stretch the track. The sound of that old 300 Hirth is music to my ears. It's time to break trails. Bring on the snow and vintage runs.

Yes, snow is here and so are the beautiful sounds of vintage machines. I am so used to the POP POP POP sound of the JLO that I think the even sound of the HIRTH is not right. I have been asked to park the machines behind the shop. Apparently the engine noise interupts the afternoon naps of my grandsons.

Ah yes, the beautiful sound of the 300 snapping through the snow.

I have also hit a milestone today as I finished the four Diablos I have been working on for the last several months. One is a restored 500 and the other three are mechanically restored 503's. The 503's were kept original, but all components have been rebuilt including the motors, gearboxes, bogies, sprockets, new seats and skis. These 503's all have Barrie's sprockets on them. Today was the first day I've been able to take each of the four on a several mile ride to test drive them. They all ran great.

Let the season begin!

Hey Bruce, That is an amazing acomplishment! Looks like those machines are going to pass many a milestone to come without worry! I like the mechanical restos, its like they still have their own personalities and past stories to tell. Great job man!
