Hi all,
Back from our first big sledding trip of the season. Eight of us were up in Curtis, Michigan which is between Escanaba and Sault Ste Marie. Rodney and Chad from down near Beloit, Dean from Wrightstown, Terry from Manitowoc, Rick from Wausau, Cheech from Algoma and "Mr Yamaha" Jeff, also from Algoma. We traveled 540 miles from Thursday through Saturday. Up near the Superior lake shore, there was a good 3 feet of snow. Most trails were ungroomed yet, but we expected that this early in the season.
Thursday not 10 minutes in to the first ride, one of the 700 Vipers torched a cylinder. Good thing we bring a spare sled when we can. On Thursday evening, we noticed one of the Apex's had some worn front end parts and the local Yamaha shop did not have anything to fix it up. However, they had a used 700 SXr in the lot and an hour later it was under Rodney's name and on the trial. Saturday brought more bad luck as another Apex in the group developed a cooling leak under the engine. No problems however as the rain had started to fall and that was the end of the weekend.
No crashes. No close calls. Sleddin was fun, but the friendship of guys like this is what it's all about.
Hope everyone had a good weekend too.
