Hi all, Hope everyone had a happy holiday and brought in the new year safely. On this topic I dealt with the Pembina North Dakota crossing. The US border staff informed that some, but not all states issue "titles" for sleds, atv etc. If the sled you purchase is from a state which issues such a document then they require that document. Original not copy. In my conversation with the Canadian border staff, it appears there is no hard fast rules. Some may require you have your paperwork officially stamped by US officials, others do not and simply complete the forms and collect GST at entry. So that part seems to be a hit and miss, When at the US side they told me that had a list of states requiring titles. They would not give me a copy but indicated I just had to call and they would advise if a title was needed.

Vermont does not title snowmobiles. Nor will they issue a title for any vehicle that is 15 years old. I wanted to title my 75 GL1000 Motorcycle in my name. I have the original title, but they wouldn't take my money.
