Hey Bruce, I sent a email to Mahle, which is the manufacturer of the burned up piston I have in my hand. Hope to hear from them soon. Also sent a email to the Hirth Corporation about getting a piston. It will be interesting to see if either one gets back to me, let's all keep our fingures crossed. As I let you know in my email, I contacted Wiseco about a piston. They can be made, but at a cost.
Thanks again for the incredible amount of information you have put together. I wasn't expecting it to contain all that. Anyone who wants all the Diablo information let Bruce know, he's got it!!

Ok, lets start by talking about the piston. I know they are rare. But all's I did was watch eBay for a little bit and up popped this one for a good price. I also found a set of rings, but when they went to ship them, they were found broken. What I'm guessing is that is one sits tight and watches (and I'll be doing that for us all), I think these pistons and rings will show up again.
Also, I inquired to a few people who were selling them about the piston for the 300cc, and one guy got back to me and said he has three .100" oversize pistons and rings for $75 each. I really did not want to buy one unless I needed it, but it may be a good idea to get one someday.

I just got off the phone with Ken P from Manitoba. Ken does not own a Diablo yet, but is looking. He helped me get the motor documents from Hirth along with some others that Barrie G had sent me. Ken wanted to put a voice to the email. Nice guy.
In regards to the technical documents, it is a load of stuff. That is just about everything I have stuffed in that envelope. I'm glad you were happy with it Dave!
By the way Dave, did you see your sled on the site. Looks pretty cool!

Bruce, I'd snatch up any piston & rings that came my way. You know what I found out thru Wiseco, I can't find $3500 to buy some pistons!! The fellow at Wiseco said the rings, if it's a standard 75mm bore (2.953 inch), the part number would be 2.953C. The C represents the fact that it's a square ring, they don't make them like that anymore.

Barrie, I see you are on-line. Can you tell us a little bit about that NOS cover?
Also, regarding how many skis you should make, I really don't know. 22 last year. WOW. People really like them. I could see you selling a dozen from this site alone.
One other question I have for you is Brian emailed me wondering if someone knew what belt is used on a 65' Hus Ski 600. Do you know?

Thanks for getting my photo on so quick. I'd have liked to get all 3 of my Diablos in one picture, but haven't had the time to line them all up. I'll get there sometime & send a new photo. Still working on finding some head lamp lens's. I'll see if they reply tomorrow, otherwise I'll have to call them.

Re: 3/5/08 Be around to chat at 8 CST
I agree on the pistons, but I can't invest any more $$ at this time. Plus, at .100" over, you will be having your cylinders bored and I don't know what that would cost, but you could end up with $200 or more into a motor without touching the lower end. I can get you in contact with that guy if you want to buy one.
Regarding your pics, try and take low resolution pictures. That way I can get more on the site without filling up the memory allotment.

Hopefully one of the 3 people I contacted today can help out in the piston department. We Diablo people can't be the only ones looking for this piston, or can we!!
