Hi all,

I have been spending the week down in sunny Mexico with many others from the US and Canada. Seems many are looking for a little warmth this time of year. Me, I come down to keep Mrs Schoobytwo sane and spend time with some special friends. If it were my choice of a vacation, it would be up at the cabin or joining one of the many Hus Ski / Diablo Runs you all are coordinating. Thank you all for sharing your fun and challenges.

When I get back, sounds like there will still be snow in Wisconsin. Maybe enough for another Diablo ride or two. We will be tapping Maple Trees in the next week in hopes of capturing some of that sweet syrup. We are a small production and hope for 200 gallons of sap to make 4-5 gallons of syrup. A jar could be a door prize at a potential 2nd Workshop this summer.

For the many of you who are looking for new and interesting information on the website, I apologize for not getting to more of that this year. The winter has kept me focused on restorations, replying to emails and helping with parts to as many people as I could. This summer, I hope to update all the content and add many new topics. An early call out to all you Hus Ski enthusiasts out there as I will need your help, instructions and pictures to add good Hus Ski content to the site. Pick a topic, wright something up and supply some pictures and I will add topics to the site as I can.

From sunny Mexico to all my friends back home, see you soon,

Bruce

Ah, yes, always good to get back home safe. Have you tapped the Maples yet? This my second year sugaring. Had a poor year last year for sap,but this year- lots of sap! We just have Red swamp Maples nearby,50 taps hanging buckets. On the good days getting 25 gallons of sap . Got a used Leader Half Pint (2'x3')evaporator outside. Still snow here-its hanging tough despite the rain and warm temps. I am too busy sugaring now to ride snowmobiles, although they would work good for hauling sap I bet,as long as no steep long hills.

The boys tapped trees last weekend. We have Sugar Maples up at camp and they were flowing pretty good when they left. A member of the party is going up tonight to empty bags and give us a Sap Camp Report. We have about 25 taps. Some in bags and some with a bottle and tube set up that empty into a large barrel by themselves. Couple of weeks, we should be ready to boil.
