3/22/09 Last Ride of the season chat

Hi all,

Took the Diablo 500 restoration out on her last ride today. We have a little snow left in the shaded areas. It was not much riding, but enough to open her up a couple of times and snap a few pictures.

Hus Ski and Diablo Season is coming to a close. Many of you are summerizing your sleds and putting them away. Some of you are just beginning a restoration in preparation for riding next year. I hope through the summer, you check in on occasion and let everyone know what you are up too. If you have Vintage events in your area or swap meets going on, get on the forum and let everyone know. If there is a time during the summer some people want to get together for a cookout, that would be fun too.

Take care all,

Bruce

Hello people

I also took my last ride today with my 444. After my ride took the 444 in garage and took it apart. It took me about 3:00 hours . Now it's ready to get it sand blasted.

My most likely "last ride" was yesterday as I rescued my 444 from the "back 40" where it broke down over a month ago. Once I repaired the break, it started on 2nd pull and came home. It was a major breakdown involving breaking two teeth off of the top sprocket and braeaking one link in the drive chain. A photo will follow in the coming days. I couldn't figure out why but the culprit may have been a jackshaft bearing which had lost half of the bearings. YIKES!!!!!
