With all the pressure of having to prepare four machine for the HUS-SKI run in two weeks, I have been riding these machine daily to prove their worthiness..........YIKES!!!!!!!!! I guess repairing is what keeps us interested in these old machines. The minus 20 degrees causes frozen throttle rods and choke cables, not to mention the slowness of the famous JLO recoil. One of my 444's just about went up for sale because it insisted on turning right in the 24" + of powder...going right meant driving into the swamp!! I don't want to recall how many times I lifted that blasted machine to the left. Lifting a 350 lb HUS-SKI in deep snow usually gets you up to your waist before you quit sinking. One thing for sure, I was a lot warmer when I left the field. The photo below shows my rides for this year. The 444 on the right has a strange windshield. Has anyone ever seen this before? or other versions of windshields for HUS-SKIs?

Barrie, I feel your pain. I'm scrambling trying to get my restorations ready for Waconia. Got the 502 started today, but the carburation is not right and it's kicking my butt. After a time out - I tore apart the motor for the 500 and will be getting that one ready for installation. My goal is to have the 502 trail ready for the weekend ride and if the 500 is not fully assembled yet, then it's just for looking at come Saturday.

Take care all.

Hi People

I received my 444 yesterday from the shop. Now the 444 is working really good. The problem was in the carb. I had made a gasket a couple of months ago but it was not done right so i was loosing air. My buddy chance 2 gas filters. He clean the carb and now it's running very good . I had trouble with the recoil . He said that their was grease in it so he clean it but some w40 . He also put a new belt . He work on the 444 for about 3 hours. For parts and labour he charge me 72.00

Before the motor would it run on it's own and the choke wasn't working properly. Now the motor runs great .
It's the same problem with my Diablo 500 . Won't run good .

The police ask me last week if I could bring my machines to their 100 year celebration . So i will bring my Hus-ski and my Diablo and mayby my Snowbug at their show. Rene Fudge will also bring his machine. Can't wait to see the kids face when they will see these snowmachines.

Today i was riding my 444 and i was stop by one of my neibours . He was saying that in around 1967 he had a hus-ski and he was working with his machine in the bush . We talk about for 15 minutes and told him you wan't to ride the 444. He said that he wasn't wearing the right close for riding the snowmachine. But after a few minutes of talking he decide to go for that ride. He was a happy man. Good old days he said. I felt pretty good myself.

Take care
