Hello

Got a call last night about a Diablo 500 that this guy had for sale. Guess what I bought yesterday. It will be good for parts for the other 500. Or will try to rebuilt it. :D

Here is an update on the 500

I went to see that 500 today . When I saw that machine I said: :o O MY GOD . What a piece of scap. Nothing was good on it. He told me that it was a 500 because of the sticker that was on it but I told him it was a 502-503 because of the bumper.
This bumper had 4 brackets . He still didn't beleive me. The sprockets were all brocken he had no dash, the grill was all brocker. Somebody had put a round headlamp and 2 small light in the grill. One track was missing and the other one was finish. The motor had no clutch and no carb. The seater was in pieces. The boogie wheels were all chud up. I spent 50.00 dollars in gas for nothing.

I had a trip like that once. I was told the machine was in good shape so I drove across country for many hours to find a common 200-A with seized motor, no seater, broken tracks and much welding and reinforcing done to the tractor portion. $400, ten years ago way too much even now. These ventures all go down in our story book.

Hey Rock - Sorry to hear about that adventure.

One thing to note is that it could have had four bumper brackets and still been a 500. Later in the 500 production year, we believe they shortened the front tin piece and added two more brackets. Then in the 502/3, they shortened the front tin piece even more.

When you got your technical packet from me, did it have the two page write up of all the changes between the 500 model and the 502/3 models? That is good reading. If you don't have it, let me know.
Too many Diablos and parts to count.

I had ask the person to sent me some pictures of that sled. I ask him for 2 days and he told me that it was raining for those 2 days. Now I know why he didn't take any pictures. I've learn another good lesson.
