Africa Lake trail open

Thanks to Jeannot's help the trail is now open. Four hours of cutting on a hot day to cut through this nasty windfall. So bad in one spot that Jeannot had to scout out a new trail that I thougt was impassable. We just about ran out of water and gatorade and barely made it back up "Suicide Hill". Sorry, I didn't mean to spook any of you Hus-ski guys. Game on . Brakes recommended, but we can get everyone down the hill safely. Got to make this run once before I'm to old.

Is this the hill where the HUS-SKI goes first with a rope pulling a Diablo down the hill?

That there is incredible dedication to the sport. Spending a hot summer day thrashing through the downfalls to make a path to be enjoyed at a later and much cooler date.

Going down the hill is never an issue with Diablos. However, sounds like we will have to set up the Diablos with the "Super Grippy Grousers" on them to get back up the hill. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding - Do you drive back up Suicide Hill or find another path out of the canyon? :D

Maybe this is the year I take a trip to Canada for a little Diabloing!

Barrie. That would be a photo opportunity I know you wouldn't want to miss. Being the host, I would to do everything I could to get my guests down the hill in one piece. Even that.
Bruce. Suicide Hill is basically one-way. You might get back up with a lot of pushing and winching, but not a lot of fun. The trail is an 8k run which takes us around in a circle and back to camp. We have spare bunks in camp and other accomodations close by in Val Des Bois. Hope you and others can join us this year. It's always a lot of good old time snowmobiling.

Just to make the photo more realistic we should tie two Diablos behind the HUS-SKI.

I do have a yellow tow rope that I could use , but it is quite frayed...... Perhaps we should cut a run-away lane, just for safety reasons?

Good idea....just like the run-away lane you had last year with a tree smack dab in the center of it.

The boys in Chalk River would call that a twig and mow it down. However, it is on my to-do list to straighten out that difficult curve. Calling for 33C today. It's tough being on vacation and moving anywhere away from the pool, but I'm getting water-logged and a touch of cabin fever. We're installing a bridge on one of the trails. We found a couple of 20' B.C. Fir beams to use. It will give our 1962 540 Cock-Shutt a small work out. I rode behind this old tractor for 4hrs. last week on one of the old horse-drawn hay mowers we use to brush the roads and open areas. It amazes me how well the old flat-head 4cyl. purrs along . See pic. Stay cool.

The afore-mentioned bridge is now installed. Should carry Hus-skis and Diablos for many years to come. Now...... that pesky twig.

Should I bring a HUS-SKI with a bumper?
