Re: Bearing
I could probably bet saftly that all bearings on any one of my machines has never been changed until I did it. With it all apart I would chnage them to eliminate the aggravation of pulling the machine apart later.
Re: Bearing
I think it's a good idea to change all of them but can i get them at any snowmobile dealer?

Re: Bearing
Your best bet is a bearing dealer but I am sure the snowmobile dealer will have them at double the price. The bearing is a 6203 2RS and is very common. Princess auto also sells them for about $2.75 each. The bearings on the jackshaft are different numbers. I can give them to you tomorrow but I believe they are included in the 444 restoratiion page on this site.

Re: Bearing
I'd also add that depending on the bearing manufacturer, the prices will also vary. The inexpensive bearings are made in China and they are as stated, $3 to $6 each. General is a brand of bearings made in China.
An industrial bearing is SKF and for instance, this same bearing size may be $8 to $12 dollars each. In bearings, you get what you pay for. But generally speaking, they are all good bearings for our light duty applications.

Too many Diablos and parts to count.

Re: Bearing
I re-placed these this past summer. I bought SKF bearings at Napa auto parts. Car Quest also had them. You can also use Fafnir bearings. I would not go cheap unless you keep them well lubricated.
Make sure they are shielded on both sides.

Re: Bearing
You have to tap out the bearing from the opposite side. Use a long 1/4" punch . Hit gently around the bearing. There is a spacer between the two bearings so you will have to move it to one side to start.
Re: Bearing
Just took those bearings out . I'm glad that i did because they are finish. I also took the front out. I've look around for bearings and for the front one they are between 3.00 and 23.00 dollars. The guy said that for 3.00 dollars thay last maybe a year and for 23.00 they last forever. I won't take the 3.00 dollars one but i'm not paying 23.00 each. I still have to look at another place. Will let you guy's know tomorrow
Take care
