I buy those carb kits at my local "jobber". The sets are made by Winderosa and cost me $9 each.

Are these kits for the 444 the standard Tillotson HR carb kits?

Randy and Bob from Ohio and I had a discussion with Jay Windover (CEO of Winderosa) about the HR kits. Couple of things he noted:

- The 3 springs in those kits for under the float lever they know are all too stiff. They are the only ones available at this time.

- When replacing the needle and seat with the new needle and seat, you may find in your kit a needle that has a "T" type top on it where a typical lever with a forked end would engage. However, with this kit, ignore the "T" top and mount the lever like the old lever touching the top of the needle.

- When installing the new seat, do not install the brass washer. The new needle and seat assembly is longer than the original and compensates for installing with no washer. If you install a washer, it sets the needle higher in elevation and can offset the lever angle.

- Lastly, the lever where the pin goes through may be a tight fit and might need to have a little material filed off to be sure not to bind.

Lots of questions about the kits and I hope I got all the above correct. I did follow-up with an email to Jay and offered that we have a whole bunch of guys that could help him perfect his kits so they are complete and correct and perform as best they can.

NAPA has Winderosa and they work fine in all the hus-ski we have rebuilt. Also available on the net and small engine & go kart shops.

2 days ago I emailed Jay from Winderosa hoping for a response to our offer to help with the kits. No response. Guess its time to go back to the SPI kits that are locally available.

Any snowmobile place will get a carb kit for those tillotsons. Just give them the HR, HD, or HL designation. Some kits include just the gaskets while other are complete with needle, seat and welch plugs.

I just noticed the HUS-SKI in the photo. Does the serial number begin with 40---?
