Track Sprockets

Just in from the shop and working on the 444. Just an observation I have made and curious if anyone else has seen or noticed this - I measured the width of the front sprockets from outside edge to outside edge of the sprocket and it measures 18.5 inches. And I noticed that the rear ones, same measurement, measured 18 inches. I am just curious of this is just poor manufacturing or if it was designed like this to aid in steering or track alignment or so on...Or does this 1/2 inch difference in measurement make any difference whatsoever. Has anyone else seen this or know why it might be like this? Maybe Hus ski Ed has some info on this difference (and also my bearings are tight, nothing is bent, everything is in good shape except for this 1/2 inch diff between front and rear).
Thanks for your time and feedback.
Peter

I think I'll take my tape measure out to the rusting pile behind my shop and see if I find similar dimensions on my 444's.

I just measured the 444 that I'm working on and the front is 1/4" wider that the rear.
