I was wondering what everyone uses to flaten the rivets when replacing a track cleat on a 502. I have been looking for something like was used on agriculture belting and such. Or do you just use a hammer.

Garth,

A friend was just telling me that an pneumatic chisel with a blunt tip works good. I myself have not tried to replace a cleat yet, so it's all hearsay.

I think it is best to stick to basics.....put the washer on the rivet , hold down on a solid surface and hit the open ended rivet with a large center punch to spread the rivet and tighten it against the washer. Then hit it with the peen end of a ball peen hammer. This is the process I use on HUS-SKI belting and I haven't lost a clet yet.

Thanks, I will keep it simple, but I am still going to look for a tool, let you know what I find. I'll look at my uncle's farm. Merry Christmas.
