Diablo Serial numbers

Serial numbers can tell us a lot if we figure out they mean. In the new information I just acquired there are several references to early machines needing repair up to a serial number of 10---. The document was meant for the model 500 as the 502 and 503 had not yet been built. HUS-SKIs were numbered sequencially and I am concluding that Diablos were the same.... model 500 starting at 10000, model 502 at 20000 and model 503 at 30000. All my Diablos follow this pattern. Could members give a quick check to see if thier machines also follow the pattern and leave a message on this forum? If the pattern is correct, then we can probably determine how many machines were made of each model simply by determining the highest serial number. My highest serial munbers are 15310 (did they really make 5310 model 500's) , 20895 and 30940

Hi Barrie,

I have documents that trace my Diablo to the original purchaser from the dealer. I have a 1969 Diablo 502, ser#21104 was purchased from the dealer on Jan. 30 1969.

Here are the serial number from both 500 10420 and the other one is 15708.

I purchased my 502 from the original owner, the warranty registration card is dated 9-6-69, serial # 21779 from Buch Equip. sales, Wausau, Wis. Hope it helps.

Here's a list of my Diablo serial numbers as follows:
"500" 10280
"502" 20003
"502" 21614
"502" 22518
"503" 30886
Check out the first 502 listed. Could it really be the third machine off the line for that model?

So far every serial numberof a Diablo falls into the pattern I suggested. You probably have the third 502 ever made. The search go on for 20001!

What would be the chance to take it up a notch and determine a 68 model from a 69 model 502 or 503? I'm thinkin probably not much chance. I'm quessing model year doesn't come into the picture from the manufacturer perspective.

Like the model 200-A there was no distinction of year ( as far as I know) but if you have a high serial number then it is most likely the second year for example a Diablo with 20003 is surely in the first year of production.
