I was going through my father’s garage the other day and found one of his diablo motors with the electric starter option. The motor is in great shape and has great compression. When I applied 12 volts to the starter the starter engaged but did not spin. I removed the spark plug and the starter again engaged but did not spin. Is the starter 12 or 6 volts? I could not find a reference in any of his manuals. That may be my problem I assumed it to be 12 volts. I can get it rebuilt if necessary, but want to explore all options first. The starter did spin freely when I removed it and spun it with my fingers.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Electric Starter Question
Hello and welcome to the forum. It's always great to see new members join in.
I believe all the Diablos are 12 volt systems including the 503. Maybe someone else can shed a little more light on your issue.

Too many Diablos and parts to count.

Re: Electric Starter Question
A standard 12 volt battery for a lawn tractor is fit for your 503.
