Cochrane run
Hi all
What a day at the Cochrane run. We were about 25 sleds. 1 hus-ski and 1 Diablo . Everything wen't well for the Diablo but my Hus-ski was another story . At first it was running good. Not great just good. After about 6 Km in the run it started to run slower and slower. So i played with the needles and look the spark plug. The plug was black again so i replace it with a new one. After about 2 Km it started to loose power again so I decide that it was time for a towing .
Good news I wasn't the only one getting towed going to the camp. Coming back from the camp we were 4 snowmobile getting towed . The diablo made the trip with-out any big problem . One boogie wheel came off the diablo. Too bad it wasn't my Diablo .
Next week in going to Smooth Rock Falls for a Vintage show and then i'm going to park all my Snowmobile for the year. Just getting tire'd ove having high and low problem . I'de rather park them then loose interest in them.

Re: Cochrane run
Hi Rock,Just a suggestion, on ideal snow conditions the carb intake throat will slowly build up with snow and clog carb, causing power loss, and fouling plug. This may not be visable if you have the original cover over the carb. Once stopped the snow build-up melts and falls in the engine and with a new plug away you go again. I have seen this problem in the mid 60's and on the machine i used this winter. , Duke

I have no cover over the carb. Today i tried again to set the needles right but with no succes. When the belt is off it's working great but as soon as the belt is on and i'm trying to go for a ride the motor has no power. I don't even go 10 MPH . Is there's something that i'm doing wrong. It would be great if i was able to go to my next show and not having problems with this machine.
Tks for your input Duke

Re: Cochrane run
HI Rock, My next sugestion is check out your belt measurements and driven pulley adjustments. If the belt gets down in that front drive too soon or deep ,its like taking off or going up a hill in high gear in you car. The engine will be under a heavy load and no rpms. Duke

Last year the motor was running very good with the belt that it's on right now. Mayby i should change the gas filter . It might help. But what do i know about old machines. LOL

Re: Cochrane run
YOu could try turning in the adjusting nut on the secondary as Duke suggests . This will give your engine more RPMs to start but less top speed. You may be bogged down in low gear but all this is assuming the gas mix is correct.
Re: Cochrane run
Gas mix is 250ml for 10L of gas 32:1
