First Ride

My first post on the Forum. In 1968, my father bought a brand new 502 for $400. I have a few faint memories of riding that machine as a toddler. 41 years later I found one in really good shape for $800... he laughed at me, said I paid too much! Last week my wife and I took the kids to Land O'Lakes during their Christmas break. We never ride our sleds a whole lot during the holidays, as the sled traffic is typically really heavy and the conditions "iffy." The kids wanted to take their 120's up, so I had extra room in the trailer. Accordingly, I snuck in the Diablo, and a 1965 Ski-doo Olympique that has been in mothballs for 20-odd years - her grandfather's machine. We rode the 6 miles to the Black Oak Inn, fingers crossed the whole way, in about 40 minutes. Surprisingly, the kids didn't mind the slower pace. We were passed by many sleds and met a lot as well, and received lots of "thumbs up" and bent necks as people checked out our old iron. I know the kids won't forget this ride for a long, long time. Not something I plan to do every weekend, but am already looking forward to another jaunt!

Just like so many people I meet, they have never forgotten thier first HUS-SKI ride. your kids won't forget either. Will we see you at the Alliston event?

Sorry, I won't be able to make Alliston. Sounds like fun, though!
