Grab your racoon tail hat and hold on tight

Post by Barrie2777 » Thu Oct 21, 2010 7:40 am

We are quickly approaching the days of snow and with that comes the wild rides only experienced on a HUS-SKI or Diablo Rouge. (I had to say that based on the title of this site) The year of 1961 is significant because that was when the first HUS-SKI were being produced for the following winter. It has been 50 years since that fateful year and now is the time to start thinking of celebrating the anniversary of those machines which have given us so much fun (and pain at times). I received a call last night asking if I was wanting to make HUS-SKI the feature sled at a central Ontario, winter ride and essentially a fun all day event. The date would be Feb 12th, 2011 in Alliston Ontario...north of Toronto. This location is 3-1/2 hrs from the Sarnia border crossing and 7 hrs from my home....hopefully central enough to have both US and Canadian participation. My goal would be to have 50 driving HUS-SKIs at the event. Major TV and magazine coverage is guaranteed. Please post your comments here as the decision has not yet been made.

Could it be an option for our 2010 Hus Ski / Diablo Get Together?

I am sure there would be no problem with that. I think that would be a great event.

Further to the 50 year event....SNOWGOER magazine and Snowmobile TV have agreed to do full coverage of the event and produce a fully edited and professionally produced CD to commemorate the day or days. We would be looking at expanding the event into a several day event keeping mind the significance of the event and the distance some enthuiasits may travel. The town of Alliston has many hotels, gas is just down the road, a large barn is available to get out of the wind or do the odd repair . The land where this is held if 400 acres and we are free to ride wherever we wish. All types of terrain exist...field, bush and hills.

Barrie,
You are the man!
What kind of paper work will be required to get our machines in and out of, as my sweet friend Sandy Wolofsky puts it "the better country" ?

The safest way to bring a machine either way is to stop at the border as you leave the US and obtain a document showing that the machine is yours and that you will be bringing it back. I know this can be done when leaving Canada. Many guys don't do anything.
