Lighting Coil output.

I read the original discussion about the AC output needing to be DC. I bought for 6 bucks a full wave rectifier to try to improve the Diablo lighting as suggested. This what i need help with. Most schematics show the AC line as a transformer or
two wires to the bridge corners. The Diablo coil has one output and a frame ground as the other connection. Can i have it so that it is: AC in and grounded to frame and also DC out and grounded to the frame. Does this work or do you need to keep the DC isolated. i'm a real good solderer, but need theory help! Thanks Johnny at Regina.
