This picture of this snowmobile came across my computer screen - don't know from where or who posted it. You may or may not have seen it but I thought I would post it here - quite interesting... I think it is called a sputnik but not 100% sure on that....

Sputnik was made in sweden from 1959 to 1962 by the arjeplog company. It came with a 2 cylinder messerschmitt 12 hp engine and could go 12 mph. Only about 100 were made.

Hmmm. Makes me wonder was this copied from a hus ski or was hus ski copied from this? or was it just coincidence that both were made around the same time period ??

I see it as coincidence concidering these machines were made an ocean apart at a time when intercontental communication was not easy. In 1959 lots of people probably still had a crank on their phone.
