decal placement

It is the time of year to be putting on the final details on those wonderful machines. Often the last detail to apply is the decals. HUS-SKI LTD kept it simple with only one color of yellow paint but when it came to decals they went wild with three different dash decals, three different side decals and several special decals for the 444 as well as two different gas mix decals due to a change in the mix ratio. I try to apply the side decals for the SNOWTRAVELLER, 200 , 400 and 200-A approximately 1" below the top of the hood. For the 600 and 444, 1-1/2" below the top of the hood works well. The stripe on the 444 goes from above the headlight to the hood scoop, then from the bottom of the hood scoop, over the hinge rod bump to the edge of the hood. The 444 decals go on either side of the gas tank pnaels. The fuel mix decal location varies according to the model. For the Snowtraveller, 200,200-A and 400 the decal is placed in front of the fuel fill neck with the point pointing to the filler neck. On the 600 the decal is under the hood and on the fuel tank. For the 444 it is under the hood on the firewall. I once removed the gas tank from a 444 and found the decal applied to the tank.....rather impossible to read. This tank must have been a left over from 600 assemblies, since the gas tanks are interchangable. A fuel mix ratio of 2 gal gas with one pint of oil should be on the SNOWTRAVELLER , 200 and some of the early 200-A's.

Barrie, do you think this would be the correct decal for my 200A that has the steel primary clutch and cast aluminum hood latch? Thanks

Yes, your machine would be a good candidate for this decal. There doesn't seem to be a definite time when we can say the ratio changed but going by hood latch design would be a good indicator.
