The black grills is a nice detail on HUS-SKI's. Careful masking ensures a neat job. Take extra care to ensure the masking tape is well stuck to the yellow otherwise the air pressure from the spray gun will lift the tape and result in a nice "fan" shaped blow through of black on yellow where you really didn't want it. Masking the inside is equally important.

I am using the same product as Bruce used for his Diablo tanks. This is a different product than what I used in my Diablo tanks so I am anxious to have the comparison in ease of use etc.

These sliders have been modified for top performance. Diablos may even have trouble following me! These sliders are for my "driver" 444 which should be ready for this winter. The 1/4" teflon is screwed to the oak with countersunk stainless steel screws. Steel screws would work for many years but just when you forget about them, they would rust off and cause more harm than you can imagine. Hopefully with these I can forget about remembering to check them!!!! I gave the leading edge of the teflon a 20 degree back cut to help it dovetail with the wood. Keeping the front edge tight against the wood is essential. I even put three screws along the front edge to help ensure this. The last thing we want during a radar run is for a cleat to grab the teflon, peel it backwards revealling twelve screws that could gnaw at the wooden cleat to produce more sawdust than a beaver in a poplar stand!

WOW! How easy was that. The four gas tanks were done without much fuss or mess. I tested them yesterday for leaks and found none. This kit was much easier to use than the Caswell Kit I used for my Diablo tanks. This kit even comes with some fine fiberglass mesh to cover the pin holes on the outside. It is then saturated with the tank sealing liquid and allowed to harden. The kit I bought was for a large motorcycle tank and had just the right amount of liquid to do the four HUS-SKI tanks.

Space is at a premium this time of year with the winter's firewood taking a large area where some machine spend the summer. Here is Lou's 444 assembled and ready for the new tracks (or old if I can't get more stainless cleats). Some gas in the tank and it fired up right away. Talk about EYE CANDY!!!!!
