WOW! That sled is awsome. I am amazed at your progress, you would laugh if you could see how little progress I have made on mine, hope to have it on snow next year and hope it looks as good as yours. Jeff

Sorry about the race car but the 444 looks better than I remember them on the production line. What a great job.

Well the repairs have been made and if i do say so myself it turned out GREAT!I just keep learning, spent some time with the paint guy he explained every thing in detail came home and got at it!Paint and body has always been a big do not go there. This project has been one learning experience after another and all good.

Well I did my first vintage ride today great day 0 deg sunny ran three tanks of fuel through the old girl. The morning before heading out did not go so well we had a issue of the cleat getting stuck between the cog and the skid.Barrie warned me of this so no damage. So we made the adjustment all was well did have to play with track adjustment a few times. But when we unloaded she got stage fright and would not start it was a fuel issue for sure just would not pull fuel.We found a little rust in the filter but it did not get any better through the day.But when she did fire up man it ran great!Loves the powder and was the star of about 25 sleds. So other than a few paint chips from the hood rubbing on the fender and her refusal to start all went well.I will now get rid of the bugs on Sunday but what a great day.

Re: No Time To Waste! 444 for Feb 12th!Get Set Go !
In conclusion there are a few things i would have done different. My fender would be made a little thicker and about a 1 1/2 - 2 inches longer to make the curve nicer looking at the front and rear of the machine, make the cut out at the chain area smaller, order extra paint, machine the face of the clutches smooth, longer key way on the secondary clutch(jack shaft),I would also make a rubber flap to be put in the chain cut out area of the fender to slow down the snow accumulation in that area. The one thing I would not change is the whole experience of the rebuild and the people I have met along the way.And the icing on the cake was the award for Best Restored Original Hus Ski!!!!!!!!!!On the 50th anniversary of the Hus Ski WOW!!!!So for those who enjoyed my ramblings I will be starting a new post soon as i take on my Diablo 502.
Thanks again to all Sean Mullin

Congradulations on the award. I'm glad to see your restoration turned out so nice. When I made my fender, I used 18 gauge, what gauge is yours made out of? I don't know if it is in the pics that I sent you, but I machined a full length keyway in my jackshaft and made a key out of keystock. I'm looking forward to seeing you next restoration in progress. Congrats again. Frank
