Re: Hus-Ski Hauler
Jeff - Great work! I'm just down the road from you in West Monroe on Oneida Lake. There are two other guys in our "club" that have hus ski's (we are in the DVD that Bruce produced). Let me know if you are interested in riding with us! (Of course, If we are trailering to a remote location we would re...

Re: Everyone Check In!
Hi Folks We are putting the boats in the lake in upstate NY now.... Have to walk by my Hus Ski 444 in the garage everyday though and look forward to riding the ol' girl in the white stuff again. Looking to make some upgrades this summer with some sneaky additions to make mine the "fastest" in our li...

Re: Need mechanical help
Here is some comical resolution that some may enjoy..... Got some time off from work so I started the day with determination to fix the 'ol 444. Had some black plastic material laying around the garage so I fabricated a nice little cover for the headlight hood vent in hopes of blocking snow into the...

Re: Need mechanical help
Thanks Barrie - I'll check the fuel supply as soon as I get a chance. The carb screen looks unobstructed. The plug color is a dark brown (a lighter brown is the end goal I believe....) Couple of other items that I could us help on (and maybe other folks as well) How tight do you adjust the tracks? I...

Need mechanical help
Finally got my restored 1965 model 444 on the snow. Was a real blast but need some help to get the machine running properly Starts easy and runs well at low to medium throttle. Dies out quickly though when approaching full throttle. Will run at close to top rpm for a few seconds then quickly dies ba...

Restoration complete!
This is my 1965 444 that I restored this summer (Bruce feel free to insert my original "before" picture "Chris S. from Syracuse NY" for comparison). I hope my "after" picture shows up below: I found this machine in a barn: metal was bent and rusty, motor siezed with carb removed, tracks and cleats i...

install a plunger type primer
Has anyone installed a plunger type primer on their hus ski?
I have the JLO 252 model (1965 444) - would appreciate any help/suggestions.
A description on how to plumb the primer into the fuel system is what I'm after.....
Thanks

Re: Restoration questions
I'm making good progress thanks to the folks on this site.... Next think to tackle are my clutches, which are quite rusty. Any maintenance tips for the engine (primary) and sled (secondary) clutches? I've sanded them gently with emery cloth - should I lubricate as well? If so - where and h...

Re: Restoration questions
Thanks - fabricated the flywheel puller and it worked great! Also have recieved new points and condensor.... The existing condensor has a thick film of crust, and it appears the two wires that are attached are soldered in place. Questions: to replace the condensor, should I just snip the wires free ...
