Re: Maple Syrup Chat 2013
Hi Bruce, Another maple syrup season is here and we took off our first boil. Just wanted to send a couple pictures of us using eggs to help take out the sugar sand. We just pour the eggs into a high boil, stir it until the eggs cook, put it in the strainer with a wool filter then take out the cooked...

Re: New guy from Ontario
Hello Jesse, I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed reading your posts. I have loved these machines since we had them when I was a kid in the 60’s. I have a 502 and a 444 that I try to keep in good running order. It is kind of a joke here that in the spring when we walk the trails on the farm ...

Hi Bruce, I think it is a drive belt. If it was a stinky greased up part I think your mom would have found it long ago. Andy

Re: Asking everyone to check in! 7/23/14
Hello from Markdale, Ontario, I have a bit of work to do to get ready for the winter, want to put metal cleats on my 444 and new sprockets on the 502. I have the parts from Bruce, just need to find the time. Hey! maybe putting sprockets on a Diablo would be a good topic for a fall workshop!! A...

Re: Storing Diablos for the summer
Not much room in my shed Bruce. I wanted to build a 2X4 unit to fit over the engine units to set the seaters on but I have to change the sprockets on the Diablo and I want to put metal cleats on the 444 so I need to be able to get at them over the summer. I know this looks like a mess but this is af...

Re: ice cleats
Thanks guys, excellent points. Sounds like a good summer project and will give me some time to round up some cleats. I'm thinking the u shaped ones because of all the hills and bush I drive through on the farm. I think I will go with your idea of every third cleat, that should help with any balance ...
