Get out and Ride! 1/2/16

Hi All,

After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, things finally quieted down and I took the time to get the Diablos ready for the winter. They did not take much to get them ready. A little cleaning, some fresh gas, I had to pop the needle off the seat in the carb of the 503 to get it to pull gas (easily done with a little shot of air into the carb inlet) and putting oil into the zerks on the bogie stations.

The 500 has a primer on it and Parry witnessed it starting on the first pull after sitting all summer. In fact, he was jumping out of the way when that bad braaaaapping Diablo took off in my shop. The primer tends to do that. I'm not sold on the primer yet, but it has it's good points. Especially on a 500 that can get vapor lock in the carb cause it gets heat from the motor.

Now I'm ready for some riding. If only we had more snow!

Can we get some pictures of your Hus Skis or Diablos to share with the group?

Ride on brothers,

Bruce

Couldn't make to the annual ride in Wisconsin but was thinking of you all and took the 444 out for a ride to the camp. A real good day with perfect riding conditions. 444 ran great and was the first ride for the year. Will be in Chalk River next weekend. Hope to see many of you there.

I rode the 600 to the Whiskey Jack Riders "Christmas Party " yesterday. It was a ggod time and the Hus-ski sure got a lot of attention. There were a lot of pictures taken of it. It was a great day for a ride. 11 miles each way. I made sure I had a jug of gas to fill up before I came home. Jim

Get out and ride...... says it all for tomorrow.
Constance Bay vintage run goes tomorrow. Looking at -30C/-22F with a mild wind chill. The organizers have put in a lot of work to get this Royal Canadian Legion fundraiser off the ground this year, with the weather conditions. I'll be out there tomorrow on the Diablo to do the 25-30k run. Look forward to seeing everyone out there. These old Hirth engines love these temperatures.

You're nuts.

I was out getting my wife and I a coffee, it feels like minus 100* out there. :o :o :o

Get us some pics if you can.
Have a good run. ;)

We hit minus 32 F this morning and wind chill on top of that!

This has been perfect snow conditions to drive my 600 single track. I take my grandson nearly every day and can drive anywhere on this hard frozen snow.

Great ride again
Thanks Mike O'Reilly and all the volunteers. This year the good weather held out until the last day or so and forced the making of a new land trail to Quyon. Very nice and longer at 50k round trip. A lot of extra work and organizing. This is the only picture I took on the Constance Bay ride yesterday. I concentrated on staying warm and when I did try my camera , the cold had killed the one battery I took. I'll see if anyone posts any pictures and add them here. It was a hardy, die-hard group that made the trip yesterday. Nice riding with all of you.
The Diablo wouldn't roll out of the trailer willingly......frozen. It started well enough, but wouldn't idle until I made a few turns around the parking lot. Once on the trail though it purred right along. No vapor lock at all.

After getting back from the Val des Bois ride the snow started falling here and left us with 18" to clear away. What better conditions than to go for a ride.
