9/5/11 - The Official Start of the Season!

Post by Go Go Diablo » Mon Sep 05, 2011 7:38 pm

Hi all,

It's been a long hot summer. Spent the first half building an addition to the shop and the second half working on all the things I should have been working on the first half. All that is done and Labor Day is here and gone. There are frost warnings in the upper counties of Wisconsin tonight and I had to turn the heat on in the car today. The kids are back in school and the World Champion Green Bay Packers start playing games for real this Thursday.

I call summer officially over and it's time for our passion and enthusiasm for Hus Skis and Diablos to begin another year. With that, I finished a mechanical restoration of this 502 today. If we had snow, I would have taken it for a ride.

So now you know what I have been up to. But I really want to hear from everyone else. Come-on all! It's been a long slow summer on the forum. Time to check in and let us know you are out there. :D If at least a dozen people check in before this time next Monday night, I'll draw a name from those who checked in and someone will win the following banner to hang with pride.

I have been fortunate to have a few HUS-SKI owners drop in for a visit or parts or both. Unlike you Bruce, I have just excavated for my "shop" extention but since our summers are so much longer than those in the "wild west of Wisconcin", I saw no need to start in june. The extention is to house my cars but now I think maybe a HUS-SKI may fit inside somehow!!! I still may get to sand blasting those 600's I have to do.

Jim here: I have been checking this site every night and have received parts from Barrie. I have varnished the skis, but haven't had time to do any more. Hope to have the 600 running this year. Jim

I've been working on a 444 with a 13hp Honda 4 stroke engine.

Hi there Jano here. I've been working on my 444 this summer. Modified the frame raising it 1 inch for better track clearance. That came with a paint job, all new bearings, a new chain, new tracks with stainless steel cleats, new motor mounts and a carb job. Tillotson in Ohio is sending me a repair kit RK107HL that will fit the HL186A carb. The 444 should be ready in time for the first snow.

Hi Bruce and everyone else... just checking in. Joan and I dragged home the new addition - a nice 444 that we will restore this winter. Barrie is going to round up some parts for me and this one I have promised is Joan's machine. In the meantime, looks like I will be driving my 500, and 502 this winter. Not sure I can get the 503 out of the rumpus room for a run! I will give it a good try...

We have no snow yet in Calgary but winter is just around the corner - this week it is hot and sunny and it looks like summer has finally arrived. But like they say in Alberta, just wait 5 minutes and it will change.

Good luck to everyone on their restoration projects.

The nights are getting cooler, but to-morrow is supposed to be 27 C. It's hard to get in the mood for bow season or snowmobiling. I look forward to the first frosts at the hunt camp in 2 weeks. Hope to clear a few trails for the hus-skis/ diablos during the time up there. Nice work on that hus-ski honda . Real professional job. Barrie, I can't wait for that Alliston DVD. Roy.

Hi Bruce,
I know what you mean about working around the house. I have mine all apart puting on new wood siding. When I get a chance to work on my sleds also. I work year round on mine anyways. It is a year long passion. I have a nice 200a, that I am tinkering with, nice orginal. I got it from a 88 year old man. He has had it since new.
Just thought I would say Hi, and Pictures to follow.
