Brake parts

Post by husski1UP » Tue Feb 10, 2009 8:47 pm

I am in need of new brake pads for my Hus-ski 444. On a 20 mile ride this past weekend in Copper Harbor I had a malfunction and lost the pads from the assembly when it fell off. Any ideas would be appreciated. I have considered cutting an automotive brake pad.

Those brake pads used to be a common part for many machines with replacement parts available at any dealer. A company such as KIMPEX used to supply them.

Hi John and welcome to the forum.

If you can give me some basic dimensions of the shoes, I will look in my reference catalog from Central Snowmobile and see if they have anything close.

1 1/8" dia. x seems 3/8"-1/2" thick is what was in there.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry John,

We looked through all his available shoes and they were all too large in diameter and too shallow.

Back to the autopad idea.

TOLOMATIC makes brake calipers for many different light duty applications.

Hi all,

Frank from Gwinn, Michigan emailed me this:

Hey Bruce, I see on your forum that John is looking for Hus-ski brake pads. These are available from Dennis Kirk and Manufacturer's Supply. The 444 owners manual lists the brakes as being H&H Model 200ME. Both of these catalogs list brake pads for these brakes. In Dennis Kirk, you can buy the whole caliper as well. The only confusing part is that they have two different thickness listed. I can't remember for sure, but I think the thicker set is the one needed. I bought a set at a snowmobile salvage yard in Minnesota, the guy had a lot of NOS parts and had several bags of them on his shelf. So I think they are fairly common.
