JLO recoil

Post by Barrie2777 » Tue Oct 21, 2008 8:29 pm

I have just done a total rebuild of my 252 JLO recoil. I will be forwarding photos and reassembly commentary to Bruce for insertion in the HUS-SKI folder.

I could use a inner aluminum sheave for the 252 recoil. Thanks

By inner sheave do you mean the rope drum....the part that the cable is wound around? Very little ever goes wrong with this part. What is the problem? The common problem which occurs with the rope drum is where the dogs contact the raised "stopper rib". After pulling on the recoil, the dogs give this rib a "wack" during the recoil. Over time, the "wacks" will cause the end of the rib to brake off causing the dog to go "where no dog should ever go"!!!! usually resulting is a completely wrecked, interior of your recoil (and another email to me). If your rib is broken off, have it built up with aluminum weld and filed/ground to the right shape.

My Recoil is doing the same thing. Where can i get parts for this thing. Like the springs and holders? I see where i gotta build it up with the aluminum weld but i lost all the parts?

Hi Steve, the springs and cups are available in kits on Ebay stores search jlo in stores.Just make sure you get the flat cups not the raised ones. Also, are you still interested in that trade we had discussed a couple months ago? I never got a reply. Thanks,Mike.
