Does anyone know where I can find a replacement or know of a suitable alternative to the original one?

For the 600 I know they are hard to find. I don't know if the 444's use the same clutch or not.I got one several years ago for my 6oo from Jeff Cobb. He was from the New York area I believe. I do not know if he is still alive or in business. I suspect that your move able sheave is the problem. I think I still have the stationary part and the front cover with weights, but there is lots of wear on the weights.

Hey mine has a Salsbury 500 clutch, but the moveable parts are still good it's the stationary side that I need, I'm rebuilding the engine and the stationary side broke when I pulled against it....I found one for a 700 but it's not for the same taper shaft

I believe the L252s are a 25mm taper with a key. There are some model 700's that have the 25mm tapper, I am running one on my 400. If you are looking for a model 500 fixed sheave, I might be able to come up with one for you. I will have to look through my parts supply.

If you happen to have a 500 model 25mm taper fixed sheave you'd be willing to part with you'd be a life saver! PM me if you find one and we can work out the details
