Husski sports club

A place to ask all your questions about Hus Skis or just a great place to spread a little of that Yellow Pride.

Husski sports club

Post by snocatpete » Sun Mar 27, 2016 12:07 am

I have been curious about this topic for a long time and I hope maybe Husski Ed and/or Barrie or anyone else can tell us more about this topic. I was reading in the Husski owner's manual and the paragraph that congratulates you on the purchase of your new Husski goes on to say you now belong to the Husski sports club. So what I am wondering is what this club was about...was it a real club or just a ficticious club you became a 'member' of when you bought a new Husski?
so if there was a true club, where was it based? how large was the membership? who spearheaded the club? and where did members meet and rally etc ?
if anyone knows anything about it. it would be great to hear from you. i have added two pictures - one of the paragraph that is in the manual that talks about the club and a picture of what i think was the club's crest or logo or badge.
ps speaking of husski Ed, has anyone heard from him or how is he doing? i hope all is well with him and i hope to see him in port Washington.

I can't answer your question Pete, but here is a picture of a patch, that I saved off of the internet.

Funny you mention the HUS-SKI sports club. I was visiting a collector friend two weeks ago and he showed me this news paper. There was about six pages to this paper. You can see the illustration showing a HUS-SKI flying through the air.

So Barrie, from the picture you posted, it definitely looks like there was a club! the Husski news - was it a monthly or annual newsletter? Does it say where it was from? is there a date on it?
What are the chances of you getting a photocopy of that newsletter from your friend? I would love to read what six pages of hus ski news was all about .

There is a year on it and this wasn't the first issue of the husski news. This is obviously a very rare document and in fact so rare that I didn't ask for a copy just to protect his collection. It is a question I might ask next time I see him but I'm sure you understand why I am hesitant.

Yes I totally understand your hesitation and I get that some people are very protective of their private collections ! But I still had to ask because if you don't ask you will never know. However it is good to know that this information is out there and is in good hands and well preserved.

I am not sure, but it sounds like you automatically became a member when you purchased a new Hus-Ski. I wonder if you got one of those patches from the dealer? Most of all the early ads for Hus-Ski were more focused on it being more for hunting, fishing, trapping, checking remote areas. I guess that is sporting though. I remember seeing that old patch on line! It would be really cool to reproduce those and decals too! In reference to all the 6-year-olds driving them, that would explain why every machine has the front fender bashed in. LOL
