65 Hus-ski L252R JLO Engine. Just wanting to make sure the primary clutch is on a keyed shaft? Tappered or not? thanks Jeff

The 148 and 252 both have tapered keyed shafts for the primary. On the model 444 turn the retaianing bolt in a anticlockwise direction to unscrew it. It is the same for the 148 motor but the other clutches have the bell housing screwed to the main shaft of the clutch. On these primary clutches, the bell housing is turned clockwise to unscrew.

The Diablo uses the 500 Series Clutch also, but I cannot say for sure it is the same exact clutch. Review the "Clutch" tab on the Diablo / Hus Ski web site and see if it is the same. If it is, I have clutch pullers available and a 500 Clutch if you boogered up the old one.

Update - Jeff tells me his bore is a 1". Does someone know a little more about the Primary Clutches than I that can help Jeff out. Did they make a 500 clutch for the Hus Ski and another for the Diablo with different bores?

Jeff, what do you mean by 1" bore? Are you referring to the hole through the clutch to let the retaing bolt pass to attach to the crank?

I have both clutches on my shelf. I will check tomorrow and report back here on what I find.

the bore is 1' where the bolt holds it to the crank. Have not been able to get it off to measure the bore that mates with the crank. thanks again

If your clutch is jammed onto the crank tht securely then whay not leave it on? If you are changing engine bearings then it has to come off but doing an interior inspection of the clutch can be done with the fixed sheave on the engine. This way you do not risk damagine either the fixed sheave or the engine. I know of a guy who broke the fixed sheave while trying to remove it.

The clutch has to come off for new seals and bearings. No fear I will get it off.
