Hus Ski 200A

Post by jdb102482 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 10:09 pm

I just picked up a 200A, Serial # 40062. I would like some more info on it, I don't know much about it. I also need the chain guard cover, not the sides just the center. I don't know if that would be easy to make myself ? Also the head light looks to big , like a car head light that is just wired in there, is there supposed to be a rubber mount or something that holds it in? I would like to get a hold of some skis. I am going to try and restore it this summer. O just remembered I do not have a belt for it, how hard are they to get a hold of? Hopefully not as hard as the Diablos.
Thanks guys,
Jeremiah from Spencer, WI

I don't know where to start!!!! Firstly, with that serial number I would doubt it to be a model 200A. Can you send a photo to HUSSKI@bellnet.ca The cover for the chain guard is simple to make on your own, some 18 ga metal, a metal cutting wheel and bend it to shape. I can send you a pattern. I haven't yet bought a new belt but Canadian Tire sells a belt # HP2003 for $34.99. This information comes from a very reliable source. I will buy one just to be sure. The headlight can still be bought new but flea markets are the place to find them. They are not held with a rubber trim but bolted to the piece welded to the top of the hood. Hope this helps. Again I can send a photo of an original but I need your email. Under the Diablo Rouge Ski Seater section you can view the ski making process. These are the skiis I make. I have three pairs available for the HUS-SKI as of today. I have the decal set you will probably need.

Jeremiah,
You got Barrie's attention for sure. He is the best I know when it comes to this sort of thing. An excellent resource to have.
Too many Diablos and parts to count.

By "the steerer" do you mean the handlebars? On the Snow Traveller and model 200 the handlebars were level, maybe on the 400 but I don't have record of one yet. The handlebars on most 400's and all 444's were also bent upwards.

I have found a belt which works for both the 200-A and the model 400. The belt is made by DAYCO with number HP2003. The center to center distance on my machines is 10 5/8". Both the 200-A and 400 have similar clutches although different motors. The difference between the clutches is the size of the tapered bore on the primary.

I have a question about the tracks. I only have part of one track, that is worn out. Are my calculations correct? There are 27 cleats per track, at 3/4"x1 1/2"x12", and they are spaced 2 1/4" apart from each other? Also the belting should be placed 2 3/4" apart from each other? Could someone confirm these measurments? Also if you have a length of the belting I would like to know that to before I put these all together. The new belting came with the machine when I bought it, and would like the peace of mind that the guy had those measuments right. Last thing, does the wider belting go to the outside or inside? Im sure I would figure it out by trial and error other wise.
Thanks in advance!

Your number of cleats and sizes are correct. The wide 6" belt goes on the outside. The center to center spacing of 3-3/4" is the CORRECT spacing and use 2 -1/2" between the tracks. If you space your cleats correctly the belting should be 101 inches long with 1/4" lacing ...... HOWEVER.....if your spacing is over by 1/32" then the belting must be 27/32" longer. Leave your belting extra long and trim the last section after the last cleat has been rivetted in place. Dont forget to subtract the bit added by the lacing. Good thickness belting for HUS-SKI tracks is 3 ply, 5/16" rubber belting.
