Has anyone ever made a new deck top for a Diablo as it really does not look to complicated? Then use the post and all the other heavy gauge stuff?Or would you just get another?

Hey Red Devil

I thought that you were selling your 500 for $50.00. Saw the advertise on ACSCC Forum.

I had two 503 frames, one of them had real bad decking, so I decided to try making a new piece. I cut the old deck off the frame carefully to save it for a pattern. I had talked to a fab shop about the project before I started. Long story short, the original "guesstimation" on the price by the shop was more than double and the front and rear pieces are still not complete. It did turn out as good as expected and it is thicker and will never rust. The frustration of this is the main reason I walked away from my Diablo restoration over the past year and concentrated on four of my other sled restorations. I might finish this someday but have decided to complete the build on my other 503 frame first, then transfer the parts someday during the restoration.
I would look harder for a better chassis if I could do it all again.

Thanks Vmaxx4 well after talking to a few guys they all said the same.Should look for another chassis. And yes Rock you did see it up for sale as i thought that someone may have a use for the under carriage as i started to look for another machine.Well i did purchase 502 from Bruce that will be picked up from the A1 show in a few weeks. The machine i purchased i have just removed from the net as my son a metal fabricator has taken it to the shop to be repair so i will continue with the restoration on the 500 at a little slower pace. But as i made my way home from the bank today to get money for Bruce don't i find a 503 3km from my house in a barn the original owner who says at this point not for sale but to leave my name and number???I'am just guy who caught the Diablo bug and may have got a little to anxious to get going but the first one i bought did leave me with a good seater and a few other parts so i feel i was not hard done bye.
