A 193 in a 500? I'd like to see a picture of how they mounted it in there. The original motor in a 500 would be a 54R which is quite a bit smaller in size. If you share a picture and get the front post in the picture, I can tell you for sure if you have a 500 chassis to match your 500 hood.

Below is the 54R. Could be red or blue.

It was not mounted in the machine and i knew it was the wrong engine but would any part of it be of use on a 54R??Like the clutch or carb ?

Possibly. This is where I could to do a better job with the website, so I apologize. Just have not had the time.

On the home page is a link to the original "Schoobytwo" website and on that page is a link to Diablo Clutches. There you will see a picture of what most Diablos have. The belt a Diablo uses is very narrow (only about 15/16"), so not any drive clutch will do. These are Salsburys. One more note about the 54R, it has an unusually small tapered crank shaft. I'd bet the clutch on the 193 is a 30mm and the correct motor for the Diablo would have a 24 or 25mm depending on how you measure it.

Regarding the carb, the original Diablo carbs are Tillotson HR3A and HR14A. Other carbs will work as long as you can get them to adjust properly.

Hi All
I thought I would add my 2 cents worth (since I sold the machine to Sean). My intentions were to try and fit the 193r Hirth into the Diablo if it was possible without further butchering of the body. This 292cc motor came out of a gently used one owner Moto-Ski Capri.
My inspiration for this swap was a posting on this web-site dated Mar 11,2008 under the heading for Questions and Discussions about Diablos. It is an interesting read.I can see the engines look different but the mounting may be the same.I'm no authority but I think it is worth checking to see if any of these motors are interchageable.
Thanks to the help of the enthusiasts on this site ,I'm sure Sean will have a nice machine some day soon.
All the best-Jim
