Belt size

Hi all

What would be the correct belt size for the 500. Mine has no teeth on it. Not sure if it's suppose to be this way.

Tks again for the help

Rock, my manuals show the 500 takes the same belt as a 502 or 503. The Bolens 180-1047. It is approximately 15"16 in width and 46 3/8" long. At this time, I've not found a resource for new belts (I do have a couple very used spares however).

Remember the Technical Packet we mentioned that is offered on the web site. This packet has a bunch of information in it that would help you with your sled and Bolens in general. I think you would appreciate the information within it.

The GOODYEAR belt SV101 is the right size but this is an old belt not in production. With careful observation , these belts can be found in great quantity at vintage car shows.

Rock,

I now have some new belts and used belts available if you need one. It should have teeth on it to easily bend while going around the clutches. That it does not have teeth makes me wonder if it is a belt that is even close to the proper size or construction.

Bruce

When I bought the 500 it came with 2 belts. Both belts don't have any teeth on them and their the same size. Will sent you a picture of the belt.

Hello Bruce,
I need a belt for my 67 diablo and for some reason that 9806-6014 gates # is no good at my local parts store? Do you still have extra new one's?

Hi Steve.

Always great to see a new member on the site. Welcome.

I do have an extra new or used belt. Email me at bschoblaska@new.rr.com and I'll get back to you next week. I'm out in Ohio right now taking a trip out east and do not have access to my information.

Good news for all. I've sent a new belt into Gates and they are reverse - engineering the belt and giving me prices on re-producing the devil. Funny thing, even though I told them it matched their 6014 belt, they had no record of that because of it's age. I'm feeling lucky here. More news to come!

I have used a 1422V466, which is just a tad different. It measures 7/8" wide x 46.6" long as opposed to the dayco gts608 which measures 31/32 wide x 46-13/16 long. This means that there will be a slight reduction in speed but on one of these rocket powered sleds, who would know the difference. The 1422V466 is available at any mill supply store. Check on line for prices, I think I paid $32.00 for mine. hope this helps
