Pressure testing your motor

My buddy Pete S from Brillion, Wisconsin was over last fall and he showed me how to pressure test a motor. By blocking off the intake and exhaust ports with the port blanks, you can pump some air into the motor and check for leakage. When we did Pete's motor, we tested it before and after replacing the engine seals. Before, we could not pump up the pressure. Afterwords, we could :D .

Wow, what a great test.

Below are pictures of a motor I went through for Ken C up in Laona, Wisconsin. Ken is getting his Diablo ready for Anitgo. I did the same before and after test with the same results. You don't need much, just a couple of pounds of pressure to make sure your engine will remain sealed when running. A well sealed engine should run better and reduce the chances of running lean and scorching a piston. I'm convinced this is an excellent test for anyone resealing an engine.

By the way, port blanks are available if you need them for $3 each.
