Diablo 503 Top Motor Mount Hole ?????

On the 503, the top motor mounts I've seen all have a centered hole in the upper edge and usually this hole has a rubber grommet in them. At first I thought it was a path for the spark plug wire, but none of the 503s I have route the wire through this grommet hole.

Anybody know what the hole was meant for?

We are going to get this mount reproduced, but do not want to put the grommeted hole in if not needed.

Here is a a picture of a 503 I looked at this summer to get some measurements for my new motor mounts. It has the spark plug wire routed through the hole you're talking about.

That's interesting Mark. Thanks for solving the mystery. I also noticed your choke cable is routed through another hole on the mount. We will have to make sure that one is there also when we get it reproduced.

By the way, we will be getting 503 heat shields and bottom motor mounts made too.

Thanks again. You have been a big help.

Here's another picture. The serial # of this sled was 3086x. Is this a later number than yours?
Have you been able to find new "stand-off's" that attach to the head bolts/studs?

Thanks again Mark. Regarding serial numbers, I have a couple of these 503s up on the shelf, but not sure what the serial numbers are.

Regarding the nut extensions, I'm pretty sure they are a metric nut one can get at a fastener store. I'll bring one down to my store and see if they can match it up. I need some anyway.
