chaincase oil seal

Since the original chaincase oil seal did a poor job of sealing around the interior hub of the sprocket, has anyone tried using a 9mm thick seal with double lip instead of the 7mm, single lipped original? I imagine there is even more room for a 10mm or larger seal if we really wanted one. The 9mm would remain within the stamped recess in which it must sit.
