I can't say I've ever remembered seeing any Diablo of any model with that low of a serial number. That is incredible.
I concure in Barrie's belief that all 500's start with 10, all 502's start with 20 and all 503's start with 30. It has been consistent with all Diablos I've seen.

After a day of spring cleaning at the shop, I had a chance to pull every Diablo I have that I consider a whole Diablo and recorded all their serial numbers. At this time, my list of Diablos Serial Numbers are:
12078 15189 15321 15371 21637 21819 21826 21829 20269 22107
22194 22367 22394 22484 30012 30402 30435 30472 30485 30517
30596 31000 One without a serial number
Anybody want to buy a Diablo!
Seriously, if you are looking for a summer project, I have a Diablo for you.

From my experience, all model 502's and 503's are the same no matter what the serial number is, unlike the 500. At at some point in the model 500 production in 1966 near the 15000 serial number, Bolens started adding reinforcement rails, bumper supports and bogie station anti-rotation pins (along with some other things too I suspect but cannot verify). This was a design change that carried over into the 502 and 503 models.
So to answer your question Swen; your serial numbers tell us your Diablos should be a 1969 production year, but don't tell us anything else that is specific to your units.

I have a feeling that Bolens was consistant with their serial numbers, unlike HUS-SKI which often thew in an oddball number just to confuse us at this later date. I have just found an original condition model 200-A with a 40077 serial number. I think anyone would have a hard time explaining this one.

I now have Diablo Model 503 SN 30584. Does anyone care to take a stab if it is a 1968 or a 1969? I'm filling out the registration paperwork and don't know what year it is. Im guessing a later 68, but not sure.
