gas tank fitting

Post by BillNH » Sun Apr 01, 2012 3:01 pm

I made a new fitting for my 503 gas tank today. It took 1 ea 1/4 hose splicer(double ended barb fitting"$1.79)1ea male 1/4 hose end($3.70), and a 1/4 NPT tap($7.99). I drilled the old threads out of the tank with 7/16 drill and tapped with 1/4 NPT. Then I drilled the threaded end of the Male hose end with 11/32 drill. I mounted the splicer in a drill chuck and filed one end down until it fit in the 11/32 hole, making a hose end fitting that would screw into the 1/4 NPT threaded hole in the tank. I then soldered the splicer into the other fitting. After I fed the fuel line through the hole with check valve/screen on the end, I screwed the fitting in and now I have a fuel fitting that can be removed just like the original. pics as soon as I can figure out how to get them from my phone to my computer. :D
