Source for track belting?

Post by CTHal » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:50 pm

Well, after too many hours driving to see some 'decent' Hus-Skis for sale.....I came home with them....wondering what I got myself into. One is a 444, and one is a 200. The tracks are totally shot on both of them. Where is a good source to buy the rubber belting, to build a set of tracks? I hope they look better in the morning... H.

Get ahold of Barrie. My bro and I bought enough for two machines from him last year and it is the perfect stuff. If you look in the parts list on the home page to this forum you will find them. We bought them without the holes predrilled in them but you can buy the belting with the holes already drilled out and it will save you a ton of time. It is a time consuming process building the tracks from scratch. I also recomend buying the wooden cleats also.

You are getting yourself into a whole lot of fun!!

It just so happens that today I have just done eight sets of belting with holes for both configurations of tracks.

I have a decent assortment of woodworking machines, and also a ShopBot CNC machine available to me. A friend has a belt lacing tool, so I am up for building them from scratch. I do a fair amount of mass producing 'tchotchkes', so I am actually looking forward to making multiple pieces. Any suggestions on U-channel steel to make the grousers from?

Here's a picture of my latest batch of small wood trinkets.

They are about 4" long and 4" tall, and are lit by those little electric tea light candles. They are nice holiday decorations. Unfortunately those electric tea lights only last about 6 or 8 hours, and the disc batteries in them cost more at the store than the whole lights do! So much for being able to re-use the lights.

By the way, I just added the HUS-SKI text to the house with photoshop. It was late... Based on the color of the house, I should have put Diablo Rouge!
