It is regular body filler. It sticks to everything! I have used it on all my HUS-SKIs and the MG without delamination. I though it was called "polyester resin" but the label doesn't say what it is only that I shouldn't eat it , touch it , get it in my eyes etc etc....

Once the cracks were filled, they were sanded smooth. Several applications of filler were done because some areas were not filled completely on the first try. It is also hard to mix enough filler to apply in one application before it starts to harden. Be sure to remove sanding dust between each coat.

This was the decal on the side of this hood. It appears to be a jumping dog...perhaps a Husky?? This hood is very thin and definitely a single track hood because the is no "V" notches cut on the bottom edge. During the conversion from the single track base to the double track base "V" notches had to be cut to pass over the reinforcing ridges in the new base. This hood also does not have the top side vent. Top side vents were also a dealer installed change.

I could use a set. Someday, I'll get around to restoring my 600. Like you, I'll have to learn about fiberglass repair.

Today was a day for painting to parts which were ready. After applying the epoxy primer to the hood, I wet sanded it to remove a few problems I had during application. This allowed me to get a smoother base for the top coat. Sanding the primer revealled how uneven the gel coat was on this hood.

I have streamlined these restorations to this painting step by not finishing the fibreglass repair on two hoods. It took a lot of time to repair this hood and my patience to complete two more had expired. This is not as bad a four complete boggie stations for my Diablos but darn close. The other two models 600's will hopefully be completed this winter. The other pressing date is the upcoming Ste Jerome EXPOSNO where I had hoped to show a finished machine.....time is running out.

Barrie,
From the pictures, seems that my visit got you going again on your restorations.

Looks like I might see you in St-Jerome with Pete and his sleigh. Working on it.
