Could there be a more tedious job than rebuilding/building a track i think not!Strip the old track, drill all the cleats, clear coat the cleats 3 times!!!!!Will it ever end!Still waiting for chassis to be picked up from paint??And off to pick up track from Barrie on Sunday.Getting a little scared of the DUE date?????I was afraid to sand blast the metal cleats so i dipped them for 24hrs in Sulphuric Acid worked great will use this for small parts (metallic only). Here are a few pics.

I think the only part about working on a Hus-ski that I don't like to do is taking apart old tracks. Almost every track that I took apart had been put together with 1/4" stove bolts with the straight slot screwdriver head. The threads are always so rusted that you can't unscrew the bolts, they have to be cut or ground off. Those pictures of the used steal cleats, wooden cleats and rubber belting look familiar and are a bad memory. Just for your info, I sandblasted my metal cleats and then painted them with rustoleum out of a spray can. That was three years ago and many miles ago and they still look good. I didn't think the paint was going to hold up as good as it did.

Oh man i tell you Frank taking that old track apart is ZERO fun !! It was a bit of every fastener known to man so I could not even get a run on them.I used every socket wrench and Vise Grip i own oh yea and the hammer the odd time!My friends uncle works for a powder coat company in Ottawa so we get a discount so i ship them out with some other stuff Monday.

On the bright side, at least you can rebuild a Hus Ski track. To rebuild a Diablo track, you would need to drill off every cleat and the knock the rivet rails out of each cleat. That is a bunch of work too. :o

I've not had the need to do it yet, but someday...............
