Sean, do you know that the new deck cannot be replaced from the top? You must cut the base in half horizontally

Yes you metioned that last night i was going to wait to proceed further until i stop in.Would you have any pics or drawings showing were to cut exactly??It was not to hard to remove what i did today thanks to rust?I will remove the tracks tomorrow and look at cutting the chassis when this is done i guess i will separate the rest of the fender from the pan. I also read something about stretching the chassis 3/4 of an inch to stop the track from hitting the fender????What do you think of this?

Here are some pics of where I cut my chassis apart. I have lots of other pics of my restoration if you need to see something else.

When you see three types of welders in the background, you know fap67 knows what he is doing. Frank's photos are as good as they get and his restores are great. I don't know why you would stretch because the cleats don't hit the front pipes but rather bang against the deck between the cogs. I had thought of giving an extra clearance in this area but in the end I did not do it. It could be accomplished by extending the 3" tubing.

I think when people talk about extra clearance, they are talking about raising the fender by extending the tubing as you say Barrie so the tracks do not slap against the bottom of the fender. This is quite a start Sean. Keep at it and you will surely have your 444 ready for the Big Show!
