200

A few weeks ago I was fortunate to get a 200A . But like a lot of Hus-skis it is in pretty rough condition. It has the typical front end damage, the tracks are completely worn out but I am lucky that all the ice cleats are still there and in good condition. The engine is not seized but will need a complete overhaul. Also the carburetor is missing. It is also missing all its brake components so I will be on the hunt for those. The ski seater is missing the seat and the skis but otherwise is in good condition.
So I am not sure what I am going to do with this... a complete restoration back to original condition or just clean it up and make it a good decent trail runner?? So I will try and post many pictures and descriptions as I go along with this one.

These next pictures show the tracks that need to be replaced and some of the damage to the sheet metal on the front end that needs to be straightened and repaired.

this looks to be a model 200, which came before the 200a.

Hi lbd
Just curious - Why do you think this is a 200 not a 200A?

I'll answer why I think it is a 200. It has straight handle bars, as in they are not bent up for knee clearance. The sleigh has an area where the tubing is straight, where as the 200A and newer ones have a bend in that spot, the area is just in front of where the skis attach.

I AGREE IT LOOKS LIKE A 200 AND NOT A 200A AS IT ALSO HAS THE STAINLESS COVERS OVER THE WOODEN SLIDERS.

ALSO THE FRAME ON THE SKI SEATER HAS LESS SHAPE WHERE THE SKIS MOUNT UNLIKE THE 200A SEATER WICH HAD MORE SHAPE.LOOKS AS THOUGH IT WAS NEVER USED MUCH THE DASH GROMET FOR THE PULL STARTER IS BARELY WORN OUT.

Really nice to hear from you guys, and you are probably right!!
So I was under the impression the 200 used the Morse clutches and the 200A used Hus-ski's own clutch design? So if this is true, do you think this Hus-ski 200 has had the clutch retrofitted to it? Or did Hus-ski use its own clutch design on the 200 and the 200A?
And that is assuming everything is correct on this 53 year old machine!! ie. sleigh, clutches, handlebars, chassis, etc, etc.
So if this is indeed a 200 and not a 200A I have no problem changing the topic title to just 200 and not 200A!!!!LOL
Is anyone else reading this and think it's a 200 and not a 200A? If there is, please feel free to voice your opinion.

Husskifan - that's ironic you mentioned the starter grommet or hole not having much wear on it but in fact this has one of the most severe cable sawing damage I have ever seen, the dash hole, the fire wall hole, and the starter housing have all been damaged from the starter cable sawing through them but nothing that can't be repaired. I have added some pictures to show you this cable sawing damage.

I have also been busy cleaning up some other parts. This is the engine mount. I gave it a good bath then cleaned it and inspected it for excessive wear, cracking or any other damage. It's in fantastic shape and is ready to be reused at a later date.
