Ok, Thank you, Barrie. I picked up a complete brake caliper assembly at the NHSA snowmobile swap meet today. I had to take a complete Bombardier chain case with secondary clutch to get it, but $15 was too good to pass up. I checked it and the bolt spacing is the same, so all I have to do is reverse the arm, and I'll be set.
Now, when the chassis comes back, I'll be ready to paint and assemble, then its on to the motor and finishing up.
OH yeah, I do still need to build a set of skis. I don't want to be running around on water skis, it makes the trails to mushy.

Well, I have most of the loose parts ready to go, just waiting for the chassis to come back from blasting. Then its on to assembly, locating and welding on the motor mount rails, after locating and cutting the mounting bolt slots. Then get everything back together and see if it starts.

Today I got the rails installed for the motor mounts, and a little painting done as well. In another week or so, I should get the mtor in and see if it runs. Wish me luck.

Well, the recent posts by snocat Pete and Barrie have made me even more convinced of the weird beginnings of my machine. It seems that I have, at least a front axle from a 444, under a 200/200A chassis. I will still build this as a 400, mostly. I don't know what I'll call it, but, with a 400 decal set on the way, it will be MY 400.

It doesn't look like a 444 front axle from what I can see. On a 444, the bearings press into the axle tube. On a 400, the bearings press into the sprocket, and this looks like the case on yours.

That is correct Frank. Another detail is that the centre to center distance of the cogs is wider that that of a 200-A.

Okay, that clears that up, it will still be a bit of a hybrid, as I do not have the time or funding to take it all the way back to whatever the chassis started as.

Sorry for the long silence, I have been busy with other projects. New Great Granddaughter, Holidays, getting Granddaughters sled up and running, new flooring in Dining Room, etc. I will not be able to make it out for the anniversary celebration, and still hope to have the Hus Ski up and running before spring.
Take care, all and have a great time at the celebration.
