Hey, Mike, I talked to my fabricator here, and if I can bring him one, or a pattern, he'll be glad to quote it.
By the way, the brake caliper bracket was $80 for one and $35 ea for six. He says half a dozen is usually the break point on setup cost.

Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
Just to keep this updated, I'm waiting for a new jackshaft and brake caliper mount to be fabricated. Then I'll get the chassis sand blasted and start assembly.
It will be a 400 with 444 clutching and brakes.

Re: clutch offset
Well, I fixed the problem. Funny how much difference it makes when you turn the secondary clutch back the right way.
I was standing there looking at it and realized that I had put it on the jackshaft backwards.

Re: SnowDog - new motor tow.
The Snowdog fits all of those definitions, with the exception that it has no "skis" as such, the sled performs that function. The Diablo Rouge and Hus Ski, both have actual skis, which makes the definition much easier.

clutch offset
How much space should there be between the clutch and the motor housing on a JLO 252? Mine has about a 1 inch space, and I am having a hard time trying to set the motor and jackshaft alignment. Every time I gat the clutches aligned, I can't close the hood as the motor is so far to the left that I wo...

Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
I think I'm going to build it as a 400, with 444 clutches and brake for now, Then I may change to 400 clutches and brake in the future, to make it completely a 400. That way I only need to get a brake caliper in order to finish it up this summer.

Re: new spin on an old topic
Actually, turning the rewind the other way is quite easy. I found the rewind repair directions in an old snowmobile repair manual. It says to wind the spring into the case. Insert a punch ( I used a Phillips screwdriver) thru the hole in the rope spindle, and align the spring end into the spindle sl...

Re: 444 choke cable routing
What he said was : the choke attaches on the recoil side" "the throttle attaches on the clutch side", by my reading. This puts the choke on the left and throttle on the right, as seen from the handlebar.

Re: Hus Ski Mutt/rat rod Restoration
Well, it turns out that the chassis I bought as a 444 is actually a 200 or 400. It has the 2 engine support rails in the middle, not the outside like the 444 chassis I see in other restoration photos. Now I have a quandary, yes, a real quandary. Do I proceed with fitting all the 444 parts I just bou...
